Bearing down on the Grand Tetons

Thursday, July 3 - We left Yellowstone in the late afternoon to drive through the Grand Teton National Park on our way to Jackson Hole. It's about an hour drive through the park, and we took a small road called the Moose-Wilson Rd., which we found out later on is considered one of the most scenic drives through the Park. The road is narrow and winding, and at one point is not even paved. At one point, once again, a bunch of cars were pulled over and people were out of their cars taking pictures. So, we of course pulled over, too. I asked a woman what was going on, and she said, "I don't know - we just are following the crowd, too." We started walking down the road where people were looking into the tall grass and taking picures, when someone said, "The bears are coming up on the road!" and everyone started running for their cars. We made a b-line back to the car. Here's a picture of the bears after they crossed the road and were heading on their way.
The views in Grand Teton National Park are quite different than in Yellowstone, because the mountains are so close. With the sun setting, the views were really spectacular. When we were in town in Jackson the next day after I took this picture, we saw that this view with the wildflowers in front of the mountains is on many postcards and books about the park.
