Very Much Alive in Deadwood

Tuesday, July 1 - We rounded out the day with a stop in the historic town of Deadwood - former home of many fine, upstanding citizens, such as ladies-man “Wild Bill” Hickok and the lovely and talented “Calamity Jane”. Can you guess which one is which in the photos? Uh-huh, we were confused, too…

Wouldn’tcha know it, but about 20 minutes after we arrived in the bustling Gulch, a gunfight broke out in the street… Take a look:

We fortunately didn’t get caught in the crossfire, so after the gunfight we climbed up the cliff to Mt. Moriah Cemetery, where Wild Bill, Calamity and other casualties of Deadwood are buried. The view down into the Gulch from up there was great.
