Crazy Horse Memorial
Tuesday, July 1 - Watched a really interesting video about the creation of the Crazy Horse Memorial. It was started back in 1948, and the just revealed the face in 1998. It is the world’s largest mountain carving, and will probably still take generations to complete. There was a HUGE thunderstorm right as we were pulling up, with torrential rain and even some hail. After it cleared, we went out to view it. Take a look at the video:
Road Trip 2013 (RT13) marks our 5th road trip in six years. This year: Shenandoah, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Mid-Atlantic Coast. Last year was
the South. We did the Northeast in 2010 and the Southwest 2009. After 2008, we learned to cover fewer miles in order to spend more time in each place. More like a vacation; less like The Amazing Race.
