Old Faithful doesn't disappoint

Thursday, July 3 - Our first major stop in the Park was at the Old Faithful Inn. We were exploring the historic inn when we realized that the geyser was about to blow, so I grabbed Sandy out of the gift shop and we just caught the eruption. Take a look. (I know it looks like I walked up right in front of the crowd, but it really wasn't that rude... we were to the side.)

We also took a tour of the Old Faithful Inn, which is really beautiful, built out of Lodgepole Pine and opened in 1904. It has recently been undergoing a major renovation. Check out the newly restored 1930's tour bus at the entrance. It has a rag top that rolls back. The lobby is 76.5 feet tall, and the architect built a "tree house" up in the peak of the ceiling of the lobby. Very fun. After the tour, we realized that Old Faithful was about to erupt again (it goes about every 90 minutes, so we quick grabbed a turkey sandwich in the snack shop and went up to the second floor balcony where you have a perfect view of the geyser. We watched it a second time sitting on benches on the balcony before heading out. Great lunch.
