Dinner in The Badlands
Because we got here right around dinner time, and the fact that we crossed into the Mountain Time Zone just an our or so earlier and gained a well-needed hour in order to keep on schedule, we knew that we would want something to eat before we took the hour drive through Badlands National Park. We saw in the guidebook that there was a little town called Interior, SD just a couple of miles south of the park, so we thought we would check it out. This "town" is tiny: population 67. But they do have a post office, school, grocery store and jail, along with two bars. The girl at the grocery store said that a lot of people go to the Wagon Wheel, so that's where we went. We sat down at the bar, and the lady behind the bar asked if we want the "Chow List or the Drink List." We ordered 2 cheeseburgers and 2 Bud lights, and the total bill was $11.50. Including chips. We had a nice conversation with a kid who is studying prairie dogs and ferrets in the Park for the next 2 months. He said that there are only 12 ferrets in the whole park. A great dose of local color for dinner.

Sounds like a scene from a Cohen Bros. movie.
